Wausau Marathon County Impact Grants Update

A Bright Start to the New Year in North Central Wisconsin!
As we step into 2025, our community’s commitment to making a difference continues to shine. Together, we’re building on the momentum of generosity and collaboration to create even brighter futures.
From supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters with an interactive learning board to funding accessible playground equipment for the new Maple Ridge Neighborhood Park, your support is driving meaningful change. Recently, $214,735 in Wausau Marathon County Impact Grants was awarded to local nonprofits, wrapping up 2024 and kicking off the new year with impact and purpose.

Here’s a list of the most recent grants your belief, passion, and generosity made possible.
Health and Human Services – $94,735
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin | $2,735 to help purchase a 65” Sharp Interactive Aquos Board, including a rolling cart to attach the board; Sharp licensing and software; and the attached PC to run the board as an interactive display
Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre | $55,000 to help with the roof replacement for the children’s theater rehearsal space
myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin | $5,000 toward acquiring specialized chairs designed for adaptive athletes
Penguin Project of Central Wisconsin | $10,000 to purchase ten microphone headsets
Raptor Education Group | $10,000 to help purchase a new vehicle to enhance their wildlife education outreach in Wisconsin
Riverside Fire District | $12,000 to help provide new electric extrication equipment
Education – $30,000
Children’s Imaginarium | $30,000 toward their team’s addition of a full-time STEM Outreach coordinator
Resource Preservation – $90,000
Athens Area Trail Association | $15,000 to support the construction of a gravel path leading from the existing Odyssey Trail System (OTS) trail to the West Village Limits Road and a village sidewalk along Hwy M in the Village of Athens
City of Mosinee | $10,000 to help purchase and install modern, accessible playground equipment, and build a full-sized basketball court in the new Maple Ridge neighborhood park
DC Everest Area Education Foundation | $50,000 to help build an urban bike park as an introduction to mountain biking for kids and beginner mountain bikers in the area
North Central Conservancy Trust | $15,000 to provide safe and improved access to the preserve and enhance the overall visitor experience

The generosity of hundreds of donors! Whether you have $20 to give to the Wausau Marathon County Fund, $10,000, or somewhere in the middle, we will celebrate your generosity because each gift generates more grantmaking resources. Donors who give $250,000 or more to the Wausau Marathon County Impact Funds establish a Named Unrestricted Fund for Marathon County to help meet community needs for generations.

Watching nonprofit leaders dream big but lack the resources to make their dreams come true was the catalyst for establishing the Wausau Marathon County Fund. The nonprofits in our community meet a variety of tangible needs, and for decades now, they have been able to apply for grants from the Wausau Marathon County Fund to help make their visions for a brighter community come to life. Anyone can donate at any time! Every gift is meaningful and is important for making the community a better place for all.
