Leaving a Lasting Legacy: Caroline S. Mark
It is hard to turn in any direction in the greater Wausau area and not see something Caroline S. Mark’s charitable hand touched before her death in 2002. Whether it be essential programs, necessary facilities, or laser medical research – the Caroline S. Mark Foundation was likely involved. Caroline knew firsthand the importance of the work of the Community Foundation. She served on the Board of Directors and Distributions Committee from 1988 to 1994 and was the Foundation’s first female Board Chair. In addition, Caroline supported unrestricted giving by providing a challenge match that successfully accelerated the growth of the Wausau-Marathon County Fund. Caroline led with her heart; she was a steadfast and influential humanitarian. Her commitment to this community continues through the Caroline S. Mark Legacy Fund, a Community Enhancement Fund administered through the Community Foundation.
When you establish a Community Enhancement Fund with us, your gift will be used to address significant challenges and opportunities in the community. Each year, our Distributions Committee and program experts determine where grants from these funds can have the greatest impact. As community needs change, so will the projects your fund supports.
