Youth Philanthropy Leadership Program
Teaching the art, science, and business of philanthropy to the next generation.
Project-based learning
Youth Philanthropy helps shape students to recognize opportunities to proactively address felt needs and service gaps in the community. Students not only learn how foundations support the work of local nonprofits, but they also get to put philanthropy into practice. Guided by mentors, the students develop skills in donor solicitation, communications, and marketing with individual donors, foundation program officers, and business executives. With a set budget, the students work together to award grants to deserving nonprofits that fit their objectives, experiencing the good of generosity up close.
Mentorship
Our youth philanthropy mentors represent leaders in the community who already engage in local nonprofit organization leadership, philanthropy, volunteerism or civic affairs. Mentors present the program content, provide direction, facilitate discussion, promote teamwork and coordinate activities throughout the program experience.
