NEWS | July 17, 2024
Recent national events have us all grappling with the tensions of our world. There are so many issues outside our immediate control, so we hope this update is a timely reminder that there is good not only in the world but also in our community. People still care, and we still have great reason to be hopeful about our future.
Local nonprofits are enriching lives, meeting needs, and uplifting people in all walks of life. Their work is fueled by passion, sacrifice, and belief. But what else? YOU fuel it! Your generosity is helping make their dreams for a brighter community come true.
From providing more local behavioral health resources to equipping emergency response teams with crucial medical devices, your generosity is being deployed for so much good in our community. $110,000 in Wausau Marathon County Impact Grants was awarded to local nonprofits in the second quarter.
Here’s a list of the most recent grants your belief, passion, and generosity made possible.
Health and Human Services – $100,000
City of Wausau Fire Department | $15,000 toward four state-of-the-art CPR devices for their front-line paramedic-level ambulances
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes | $5,000 to help remodel the basement of their Alexander Lodge at Camp O’Claire
Good News Project | $20,000 toward their loading dock renovation, including excavation, drainage, new concrete, repaired dock opening, new electric garage door, and a new egress stairway
Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation | $50,000 toward their capital project to establish a clinic in Wausau; the center will provide access to evidence-based intensive behavioral health programs
Society of St. Vincent de Paul | $10,000 to help replace their thrift store’s parking lot

Whether you have $20 to give to the Wausau Marathon County Fund, $10,000, or somewhere in the middle, we will celebrate your generosity because each gift generates more grantmaking resources. Donors who give $250,000 or more to the Wausau Marathon County Impact Funds establish a Named Unrestricted Fund for Marathon County to help meet community needs for generations.

Giving Levels:
Platinum donors gave $1,000,000 or more.

Watching nonprofit leaders dream big but lack the resources to make their dreams come true was the catalyst for establishing the Wausau Marathon County Fund. The nonprofits in our community meet a variety of tangible needs, and for decades now, they have been able to apply for grants from the Wausau Marathon County Fund to help make their visions for a brighter community come to life. Anyone can donate at any time! Every gift is meaningful and is important for making the community a better place for all.
