Wausau Marathon County Impact Grants Update
June 5, 2025
Another wave of grants means donor generosity is impacting our community!
When donors give to the Community Foundation, they trust we will award grants to help fund the best projects. And every quarter after those grants are awarded, it’s our opportunity to show you what your confidence in us and your generosity toward our community are accomplishing.
This is a long list of grants made possible by hundreds of donors to whom we say (along with all these organizations) with full hearts, “Thank you!”
Education – $9,000
Children’s Imaginarium | $5,000 to help fund their “Annual Access for All” initiative, a program for children and families who are actively seeking out educational opportunities and experiences that otherwise would not be accessible to them.

Arts – $5,000
Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre, Inc. | $5,000 to help fund the addition of an executive director to lead post-pandemic growth; they are aimed at long-term financial stability, expanding community impact, and laying the foundation for broader arts collaboration across Central Wisconsin.
Health and Human Services – $114,900
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin | $11,400 to improve the digital enrollment process for their volunteers and kids in the program, reducing staff workload, improving volunteer conversion, and enabling the organization to match more of the 151 children on their waitlist with a big brother or sister over a three-year period.
Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area | $9,000 toward their summer program “Great Summers Start Here,” addressing our community’s childcare access, availability, and affordability issues during out-of-school months.
Breakthrough T1D Wisconsin | $7,900 to help fund their outreach efforts in Marathon County: connect families to existing resources, educate school personnel about Type 1 Diabetes, and engage child life groups at local healthcare providers (bridging the gaps resulting from high turnover in the endocrinology departments).
Central Wisconsin Off Road Cycling Coalition | $5,000 toward the development of the Evergreen Elementary Bike Park in Kronenwetter.
Central Wisconsin Water Ski Show Team | $2,500 to help purchase radios to enhance the communication between the boat drivers and safety crew members.
Habitat for Humanity | $10,000 toward the purchase of a new box truck for donation pickups.
Homme Heights/Forest Park Village | $20,000 toward the modernization of the facility’s elevators, making them ADA compliant, safe, and reliant for decades to come.
Mosinee Area Action Club | $10,000 to help purchase equipment for an accessible swing area for the playground at River Park.
The Women’s Community | $1,600 to help implement a strategic engagement plan to recruit, train, and retain their volunteers.
United Way of Marathon County | $10,000 toward the purchase and outfitting of a 16-foot box truck to enhance the operation of their Mobile Food Market, bringing fresh produce to underserved neighbors in our community.
Wausau Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department | $25,000 toward the reconstruction of the Marathon Park splash pad.
Wausau Pride | $2,500 to help purchase essential resources for their ongoing programs, focusing on youth engagement and mental wellbeing, while being a major player in driving visitors to the area.
