Happy Fall in northcentral Wisconsin! We’ve been blessed with a beautiful fall, and as the leaves change, our community’s shared commitment to making a difference shines brighter than ever.
From providing more opportunities for creative expression at the CVA to helping fund a much-needed volunteer coordinator role for CASA, your generosity is being used for so much good in our community. $85,975 in Wausau Marathon County Impact Grants was awarded to local nonprofits to wrap up the third quarter.
Your belief, passion, and generosity made the following grants possible.
Health and Human Services
CASA of Marathon County | $20,000
The hiring of a Volunteer Coordinator who will directly supervise 30 CASA advocates. Thirty advocates can collectively serve up to 75 children placed in the foster care system at any given time.
Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin | $3,200
Funds will be used to expand, enhance, and continue the Daily Living Skills Training and Group Skills Training serving people in Marathon County.
InDoors, Inc. | $5,000
Funding will be used to offset costs for the purchasing of materials to construct 10-12 tiny homes, land acquisition, if necessary, a community center to include bathrooms, laundry facilities, central kitchen, meeting rooms and infrastructure of the property.


Resource Preservation
Central Wisconsin Off Road Cycling Coalition (CWORCC) | $9,775
Ringle Trails continues to be a popular mountain biking destination in Wisconsin. Funding will be used to purchase a Huffcut Teal vault toilet for the Ringle Trails trailhead creating a better experience for users and guests.
Mosinee School District: Mosinee Softball | $5,000
The funds will be used to purchase a new fence for the MAAC complex turf field. The field is used by high school, youth and community softball players in the Mosinee area.
Wausau Curling Club | $25,000
The purchase and installation of equipment to capture and stream curling activities.
Arts
Center for the Visual Arts | $10,000
Art-To-Go will bring meaningful creative experiences to some of our county’s underrepresented communities including; community members in senior living homes, rural youth, Abbotsford’s Latino population, and incoming refugee families.
Islands of Brilliance | $5,000
Funding will be used to sustain programming in 2025 for ‘The Fellowship’ in Wausau, a weekly arts-based workshop created by Islands of Brilliance (IOB) which provides neurodivergent young adults support, social opportunities, and a sense of citizenship within their communities.


Education
Marathon County Historical Society | $3,000
Enhancements to MCHS’ signature event, Holiday at the Houses, and the visitor experience by building on our recent acquisitions from the Yawkey and Woodson families from 1927. This will allow for expansion on the new 1920s exhibit and showcase what Wausau was like during the holidays a century ago.
