The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin will join in a nationwide celebration, November 12-18, 2023, to recognize the increasingly important role that community foundations play in strengthening their local communities, empowering nonprofits, and helping alleviate social issues. Serving Marathon County for over 35 years, the Foundation has given a total of over $115M in grants and scholarships since 1998.
The Foundation is celebrating in a unique way this year, as they officially commemorate their relocation to a new office space with their ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 15, 2023. The previous location for the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, renovated by Miron Construction, designed in partnership with J&J Architecture, furnished by the Samuel’s Group, and funded by local donors who believe in providing a larger space with increased accessibility for the organization, the Foundation’s new office space is a testament to the generosity and warmth of this community. The organization, embedded in the goodness of community, received incredible community support to make the location change a possibility. Already, there are more donors, community leaders, and guests in and out of the office space.
The ribbon cutting, to take place at noon on Nov. 15, 2023, will be preceded by the unveiling of the Jean C. Tehan Board Room, which stands as a tribute to the exceptional journey of a visionary leader who reshaped our region and left an indelible impact on our entire community. Jean served the Foundation for over 32 years, and her influence will always be a source of inspiration, a symbol of grace under pressure, and an embodiment of integrity. She led The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin not solely through intellect, but through the warmth of her heart; fostering a community culture built on inclusivity, collaboration, and the profound capacity within everyone. The Jean C. Tehan Board Room, made possible by the generosity of Ron and Janet Klimisch, is a haven where these principles will endure, ensuring her unwavering belief in the potential of philanthropy. Jean’s values will continue to shape the lives of those who tread the path she illuminated.
The dedication of the board room in her honor is a surprise to Jean, and in pure serendipitous alignment, it also falls on National Philanthropy Day. While the board room dedication is limited to invite only guests, the Chamber of Commerce-hosted ribbon cutting for the Foundation’s new office space is open to the community. Tim Parker, President and CEO of the Foundation, repeatedly states, “We are the community’s Foundation, and we invite community members to reach out or stop by to learn how they can harness their generosity to help build a brighter community.” The Foundation would be honored to have guests from the community join in the celebration of their new office space with new and improved accessibility, on National Philanthropy Day, during National Community Foundations Week.
